With the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) you can obtain all kinds of information from government agencies these days concerning files pertaining to you. This we all know. So, we go about writing letters asking to receive a copy of this information and eagerly await the mailman to deliver same. You open up the packages and letters and you look over what was sent and on the surface all appears to be legitimate. This is exactly what "They" want. So you file the information away with a false sense of relief that what "They" know about you is true.
One particular IRS information file you can request through FOIA is the Individual master File. The Individual Master File (IMF) is a magnetic tape record of all individual income tax filers, in Social Security Number sequence, and is maintained at the IRS National Computer Center. All tax data and related information pertaining to individual income taxpayers are posted to the IMF so that the file reflects a continuously updated and current record of each taxpayer's account. All settlements with taxpayers are effected through computer processing of the IMF account and the data therein is used for accounting records, for issuance of refund checks, bills or notices, answering inquiries, classifying returns for audit, preparing reports and other matters concerned with the processing and enforcement activities of the IRS.
The IMF is designed to accumulate in each taxpayer's account all data pertaining to the income taxes for which the taxpayer is liable. The account is further sectionalized into separate tax periods (tax modules) each reflecting the balance, status, and transactions applicable to the specific tax period. This includes the returns filed, assessments, debit and credit transactions, and all changes made to the filed tax returns.
After requesting a copy of your IMF you receive your information from the IRS. All seems fine. Now, if you've ever seen one of these files there are a bunch of numbers and letters in groups that you skip over because they mean nothing to you. But, in reality, these are codes and are really what "They" know about you or made up about you. But that's not the best part. This file is what "They" want or let you see. "They" don't let you see or want you to see the other file they keep. The IMF Specific" file. The IMF “SPECIFIC” is the file you have to ask for when you request your information from them. You look over this information and again there are these codes "They" used to identify you and your particulars. Unless you're familiar with these codes you wouldn't know whether they think that you own a business in some Caribbean Island or whether you deal in either fire arms, alcohol or tobacco would you? Well, wake up people. This is how "They" justify withholding your money. These codes all mean something to them. The trick is finding out what those meanings are.
If you want to know what your IMF says about you, I can decode it for you. I charge $150 per year, and everything in the file will be decoded. Order your decoding today and I will send you a FOIA request for the forms that you need, ready to mail. When you receive your IMF files, send me a copy (you keep the originals) and I will decode them for you.
